After a few months of guiding humans on Earth, she felt confident to take on cases in the city of sin: Las Vegas. However, she failed her first case there and defected from heaven. She no longer saw humans as merely ignorant but willingly capable of cruelty, and more importantly to her, if she wasn’t good enough for heaven, then no one is. Heaven offered her another chance: orders to Marlowe, NJ, to deliver a heavenly artifact to “The Black Dove” and to serve as a guardian angel again. She wandered towards there seeking answers on what heaven intended for her, or more so on what she could do to make them regret tasking her with this. Archduke of Gluttony, Egelon, soon poached her to be the manager of the Deviled Egg, Hell’s first establishment in town. ## Relationships ### Cherry Hilda Ford <img class="relationship-image" src="chibi_cherry.jpg" alt="Chibi Cherry">The assigned human in Marlowe whom Aurelian is supposed to guide but feels too jaded about heaven to do so. She works as a waitress at the Deviled Egg, so Aurelian keeps an eye on her. Since she reminds Aurelian of themself, they’ve become protective of her and regrets her entanglement with Hell, but they figure that it’s better to keep her near at this point. Aurelian dreads that they might cause Cherry’s death. ### Solomon Malphus <img class="relationship-image" src="chibi_solomon.jpg" alt="Chibi Solomon">The devil involved in the case leading to Aurelian’s fall from heaven. Not that he remembers. Now, their subordinate at the diner as a bartender. Aurelian’s distaste for him is mixture of his model behavior as a devil, personal grudge, and his competence as a better social negotiator, especially in hell-related matters. Although they loathe to acknowledge it, they begrudgingly respect him, rely on him, and conditionally trust him. ### Crescinda <img class="relationship-image" src="chibi_crescinda.jpg" alt="Chibi Crescinda">A fellow fallen angel whom Aurelian befriended at a meeting with the Morax Syndicate, which she works for. She has been fallen for longer and did different work in heaven from Aurelian, so they respect her and rely on her for insight. They want to learn more about her outlook on being a fallen angel since she’s much more content with life than Aurelian is. ### Kal <img class="relationship-image" src="chibi_kal.jpg" alt="Chibi Kal">A risen devil and the manager of the Deviled Egg’s rival, heaven-established restaurant, GreenHaven. Her very existence enrages them since it implies that not only Aurelian’s fall from heaven is a personal failing, but that even hell-folk can ascend to heaven. They consider anything that Kal does or says as condescending due to this. ### Archangel Jophiel <img class="relationship-image" src="chibi_jophiel.jpg" alt="Chibi Jophiel">Aurelian’s former mentor from heaven. The figure who has been the closest to them and the one they wanted to impress the most. Aurelian dreads seeing her ever again, which they assume derives from their grievances with heaven, but it is actually a mixture of the fear that they disappointed her, the confrontation that they miss her, and the betrayal they feel from heaven.
