## Emil POV This dream fog. It… revealed something to me. I had no reason to believe it to be true. But I couldn’t convince myself otherwise. “My death was my own fault”? How naive could I be…? I really thought I escaped my past, when there was no such thing as escape. All that I’d done… and for what…? I deserved punishment, for sure, but why did it have to be this way? I have no one to blame but myself. I am a murderer, a bogeyman, and a fool on top of it all. Had to go prepare the meal. Had to go into the freezer to retrieve the meat. Had to brace the snowstorm in the magick-distorted freezer. And then, my past. I had wanted to ask that devil woman some questions about the criminal underworld around this town. But then I thought, maybe, I could get the answers I wanted this way. Through the illusion there would be truth. There must be. Thinking back, I was foolish. Just as I had always been. Jonny—he was my last lifeline. Gave me the last opportunity to turn back to the world of the living. And what did I do? I yelled at him that he should go be useful for once. Everything was my own doing. The compound in the snow. The blood, the bodies, the silenced gunshots. That hospital. The blood, the bodies, the footprints, — I guess I just wanted to say goodbye to him. Properly. One last time. The farewell that I denied both him and myself due to my foolishness. So long, love. I see you have found the greener pastures you’ve always deserved.
