\[KRIS\]
*Leslie, we can have a short Ricochet scene before we end a little early.*
\[LESLIE\]
*Yes.*
\[KRIS\]
*Okay. You can take the reins. I've given you information about where Ricochet stays, and you can set the scene if you want.*
\[LESLIE\]
*Yeah. So I think the little— little date, that they've arranged, is probably just whatever they usually do. Like maybe they spend some time at the Lounge, or are kind of out on the town for a little bit, and then go back to the motel where he's staying.*
*And I think that… I think…*
*…Throughout the night, Leslie is… kind of pointedly— you know, it's small talk, it's whatever they usually talk about. Maybe also talking a little bit about, like, what to expect from the gala, who might be there — not information that you actually need to give me, but like, in a small talk sort of way. But he is pointedly avoiding talking about Christmas Eve.*
*Um… up until they get back to the motel. And then… I guess— what energy do you imagine Ricochet would be bringing to this kind of night?*
\[KRIS\]
*Yeah, Ricochet… it's been a pretty busy week for him, so he's trying to just unwind. He's— a little checked out, but in a way that's not, like, actively disrespectful. He's nodding along, making conversation when it feels like you want conversation. But generally, he's very low key, just smoking, wandering… enjoying small talk as a way of just, like, relieving the mind of the adrenaline of his work.*
\[LESLIE\]
*Yeah, okay, okay. Um…*
*Yeah, so when… they get back, I think Leslie will kind of… wait for him to look like he's settling in a little bit? Like, you know, take off his jacket, take a seat, something like that. But Leslie is not getting settled in. Um… and he's going to say:*
Ah… so there's something I wanted to ask you, actually. About Christmas Eve?
\[RICOCHET\]
Yeah, sure, shoot.
\[LESLIE\]
Why… were you so sure that I was charmed?
\[RICOCHET\]
…
You were kind of acting like… how you'd act when you perform at the Satin Lounge.
That’s the key thing, I guess, Rabbit. It's a performance, and I can tell when you're on the clock, you're usually not performing — if you're on the clock at the Deviled Egg, why would you be acting like you're… at a strip club, trying to make someone get their socks rocked off?
\[LESLIE & PEANUT GALLERY\]
*(laughing)*
\[KRIS\]
*Ricochet keeps using the fucking weirdest terms. Razzle dazzle, socks rocked off. I don't know why. It's just his character now.*
\[RICOCHET\]
You don't put on that whole thing just for a normal day at the diner, based on… I mean, I feel like I've seen you work.
\[LESLIE\]
…Right. That's true. That makes sense.
\[RICOCHET\]
And I've never seen you do it for that guy in particular.
\[LESLIE\]
(laughs sheepishly) Well, I—
\[RICOCHET\]
At least to that extent.
\[LESLIE\]
Yeah, that's— I mean, there is a… there is a story there. But, I… I’d thought you were right.
…
I…
I— I wanted to…
…I'm not really sure how this will look from your perspective, but.
*And then I think— I think every time Leslie has spent time with Ricochet, after that first night when he got the arrangement with Hinn, he has been putting on the same glamour. And he is going to snap his fingers and drop it.*
\[KRIS\]
*Yeah, Ricochet looks at you, just kind of nods his head.*
\[RICOCHET\]
Yeah… did I ever tell you which circle I come from?
\[LESLIE\]
I don't think you did.
\[RICOCHET\]
My family heritage is a… fucked up mess, I don't know — but for most of my life, I lived in Lust.
\[LESLIE\]
Really?
\[RICOCHET\]
Yeah. I mean, I'm not a succubus or an incubus — I had some friends here and there, but I was more just a normal devil living in that place.
I know you're a succubus, you use glamour, and I don't mind. It's part of the job. I know why you take on the look you do, and I… I don't know. (shrugs) It's nice to look at.
\[LESLIE\]
…Well, I… I take pride in what I do.
\[RICOCHET\]
…Yeah.
\[LESLIE\]
I…
\[RICOCHET\]
I mean, that look \*specifically\* — I know there's… I don't know how much you know, but... yeah. Reminds me of someone.
\[LESLIE\]
…Yes, I… I know.
Um. It's sort of why I…
…I've got some— some Pride, in my family, and I'm able to sense a little bit when… when someone has strong feelings of pride, or… something they're ashamed of. And I… got a bit of the shape of that from you, when we met.
\[RICOCHET\]
…Yeah.
\[LESLIE\]
(laughs sheepishly) I suppose you know it’s commonplace for a succubus to have a glamour on, but it… (sigh) I just felt like I should stop using that one.
\[KRIS\]
*You see him… grab, like, a flask at his side, and just down it.*
\[RICOCHET\]
Yeah, yeah, fair. I mean I \*should\* say it… \*really\* fucking sucks, but I'm too tired.
I'm fine with whatever. You look pretty that way, too, so. Don't worry.
\[LESLIE\]
…
\[KRIS\]
*He seems— you can see in his expression, he's like... it's a mix of like... maybe he's a little bit hurt, but it's just like he's drowned these emotions for so long, he's… unbothered.*
\[LESLIE\]
*Yeah.*
\[KRIS\]
*He just leans back in the chair he's sitting in.*
\[LESLIE\]
*I think Leslie is…*
*He goes kind of quiet, and he's still not sitting down, he's kind of leaning against the wall. Um. And… I think… after a long moment, he says:*
I…
I don’t want you to think I haven't been enjoying myself, because I have.
*And he gives him a little smile.*
But… the reason I went so far as to use — \*that\* — was because I wanted information from you, and… I wanted to be sure you would like me. Because I thought that would make it easier.
…And it worked.
\[RICOCHET\]
(shrugs) It worked.
\[LESLIE\]
I got what I wanted.
\[RICOCHET\]
I mean, I don't hold it against you. We’re both devils. We both know how this works.
\[LESLIE\]
Yeah.
…
I wanted…
I wanted news from Hell, because I left someone behind, when I left. And I wanted to know what had… happened… to her.
\[RICOCHET\]
Mhm.
\[LESLIE\]
And I… now I know\! She, uh… she’s dead.
\[RICOCHET\]
…
\[LESLIE\]
(weakly) So…
\[RICOCHET\]
…
…
…Humor me. If I was an incubus, and I was trying to look like your dead lover — what would I look like?
\[LESLIE\]
…
…
*Leslie is going to kind of— kind of— he’s gaping at him a little bit, um…*
\[RICOCHET\]
We're being fair.
\[LESLIE\]
Right… fair is fair. Uh…
I mean, I can't say she looked much like you. She was a— she was a succubus herself. There was a… she was a demon, too. It was complicated.
…Red hair. Long— long… long red hair. It was always... it was always pretty wild, but in a… in a flattering way. It suited her.
And… red… red fur, too. Striped. Uh… you could— you could tell, that she had demon in her. Uh… and… big horns, big— big— big… curling horns, her— her tail was heavy, she could wrap it around— wrap it around as a— a sort of… accessory when she wanted to, and it— it… suited the look… a lot of the time, uh…
\[KRIS\]
*As you tell Ricochet these features, you notice he's just… sitting beside you, and just puts a hand on your back and rubs it softly.*
\[LESLIE\]
…
…Yeah, that's...
\[KRIS\]
*He offers you his flask.*
\[RICOCHET\]
Cheers. To chasing ghosts.
\[LESLIE\]
…
…
…Cheers.
*Yeah, Leslie’s gonna… gonna take a swig.*
\[KRIS\]
*I think we'll end our session there.*
